Complete renovation of one of Lisbon's most iconic fado houses, founded in 1937. The project reorganised the space to house a restaurant, fado performances, a wine bar, a gourmet shop and a tourist information area.
About the project
Founded in 1937, Adega Machado is a cornerstone of Lisbon's Fado heritage. Its rooms, whose walls are lined with photographic memories, have welcomed the greatest voices of Portuguese music and world-renowned figures.
To meet contemporary demands without losing its identity, the in-depth renovation and reconstruction reorganised the space. The goal was to create a multifaceted meeting place where the traditional Fado House and restaurant sit in harmony with a modern Wine Bar, a gourmet products area and a cultural space telling the story of Bairro Alto and Lisbon.
The result is a contemporary, sophisticated space, deeply rooted in quality, tradition and the cultural soul of the city.
